Financial Captital Allowance ( ECA ) for companies - 30/12/08

ECA stands for Enhanced Capital Allowance. It is a government run incentive to financially reward companies who choose to install energy efficient products. If a company has qualifying equipment installed and they make profit in that financial year, they can claim 100% of the equipment and installation cost back against their tax, increasing dramatically the company cashflow.

F-Gas Regulation - 30/12/08
This imposed obligations on "operators" of equipment that will impact whether your engineers can legally work on equipment containing F Gases. F-gases include HFCs such as R134a, which are the commonest refrigerants in use today. The Regulation aims to minimise emissions of these gases, which affect global warming if they are allowed to escape or leak into the air.

European price hike for R22 - 28/11/08
The price hike of 12-14% (depending on packaging) comes four months after Dupont’s 25% rise on the refrigerant, which came into effect on March 1.
The refrigerant supplier said the price rise is driven by rising raw material, energy and transportation costs.

Eco-refrigeration top of M&S's shopping list - 08/10/07
GLOBAL retailer Marks & Spencer is introducing eco-refrigeration in response to pressure from consumers to lower its carbon footprint . M&S has opened the first of three green stores with CO2 refrigeration and air conditioning this month. Its first eco-shop was unveiled in Bournemouth on October 4. The store uses up to 25% less energy than before the refit following the installation of new systems and equipment across lighting, refrigeration and heating and ventilation. It is powered with green renewable energy, delivering a 92% carbon dioxide saving.
