What is odometer re calibration?
This is a procedure that is sometimes necessary when a vehicles clock has been damaged or corrupted by means of things such as 'installation of a new battery or new dash board installations etc. When this happens it is essential to have the correct mileage displayed on your screen to ensure the vehicle is legal and abiding to all laws and regulation. Abacus Diagnostics are able to re calibrate any digital clocks on most cars by means of high tech computerized equipment along with the expertise of their skilled technicians available to them.
What else do they do?
Abacus Diagnostics have a variety of skills and technology available which includes things such as TV unlocking, Air bag light repairs and many other computer fault corrections.
TV unlocking can be used when a cars TV cuts out once a car is in motion but they do advise that it is illegal to watch TV whilst driving, the purpose of this is purely for passenger entertainment only.
Air bag lights can come on at anytime even when the air bag is not faulty. Although Abacus are able to switch this light off they will never do this prior to you taking you car to a local professional person to have the air bag tested and legal.
What are the laws correcting a vehicles miles?
Mileage correction is only ever to be carried out in order to either repair a faulty clock or to set the cars miles to what they should be. What costs are involved?
Depending on the car make, model and year the prices vary from as little as £60 in some cases. Abacus are able to carry out corrections on all makes and models of cars including Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Ford and all other makes. Some cars are more complex than others to correct but Abacus have the tools and expertise to carry out the job quickly and efficiently at up to 3 hours notice throughout the UK.
What sort of equipment do you use and will it damage my car?
Abacus Diagnostics use the very latest equipment imported from brand leaders in Germany. The equipment is state of the art and able to carry out odometer corrections by simple plugging into the cars diagnostic port in most cars. Sometimes the dashboards cluster may need to removed by means of a couple of small screws and clips in order to de solder a eprom chip to enable reprogramming of this chip. The cluster is then carefully placed back into position perfectly as it was before.
A car can have many different memories located in different places so at Abacus they ensure the computerized equipment programs all of these throughout the vehicle taking as little as half an hour to complete on some cars although other vehicles may take up to 3 hours in certain cases.
